👋Welcome
Hi, Welcome to Enjoy it Vernacular (EVer) — where indigenous languages and cultures speak boldly, beautifully, and without apology. We are a patriotic voice for our languages, our people, and our way of life.
EVer is a Uganda-rooted, multilingual magazine and cultural platform dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and elevating indigenous and endangered languages, including Runyankore-Rukiga, Lukonzo, Luganda, Runyoro-Rutooro, Lusoga, Swahili, and all so-called vernacular languages.
But at EVer, “vernacular” means more than language. We honor:
Vernacular spoken. Vernacular lived. Vernacular eaten, worn, planted, walked.
Vernacular in land and sky, in customs and creativity — all that the world once called “raw” or “local” has a home here.
This is not a nostalgia project. It is a revival movement — rooted in nationalism, African dignity, ecological awareness, and youth-led cultural resistance. We speak. We write. We remember.

We welcome submissions in Runyankore-Rukiga, Luganda, Lusoga, and other indigenous languages — with or without translation. English submissions are accepted when the call includes them, but only when they carry vernacular weight.
