Call for Submissions: "LIBERTY" in Runyankore, Swahili, Luganda and English
Enjoy it Vernacular – Issue #1
Dear Reader,
Welcome to Enjoy it Vernacular—a literary space where we write as we are, in the languages that shaped us: Runyankore, Swahili, Luganda, Kinyarwanda, English—and others.
This magazine was born to celebrate the power of our mother tongues—not just in conversation, but in creativity, in literature, and in self-expression. The world needs you still. Write!
To begin, we’re inviting you to take part in our very first call for submissions.
🔓 THEME: LIBERTY
Yes, you read it right. Just one word: LIBERTY.
What does it mean in your world? In your body? In your language? Write it how you feel it—in Runyankore, Swahili, or Luganda. Let your words roam free.
No political, explicit, or hate content. No translations. Just your original voice.
Enjoy it—Vernacular.
✍🏾 Submission Guidelines

📜 Short Fiction — up to 1000 words
🖋️ Poetry — up to 3 poems
✍🏾 Essay — up to 800 words
📅 Deadline: July 30, 2025

📰 What’s in it for you?
We’re not offering money—yet. There’s no submission fee. No token prizes.
But if your work is shortlisted:
🖋️ It will be published in Enjoy it Vernacular
🌍 It will be shared with our growing community of vernacular readers and writers
🗣️ You will become part of something meaningful—a new movement for language, literature, and local pride
💬 Donations Welcome
We’re a grassroots, independent magazine—just starting to crawl.
If you’d like to support us, donations are welcome. (More details available here.)
Or simply send “I WANT TO DONATE” to enjoyitvernacular.magazine@gmail.com.
But most importantly—your words matter more.
We’re not here to explain LIBERTY.
You tell us what it means. In your voice. In your language.
Just Enjoy it—Vernacular.
